How to Take Good Care of Long Hair
Gentle treatment is about taking good care of your long hair. New growth starts at your scalp, the hair part need to be handled carefully at the ends can be months or years old. You have to keep your locks healthy and long using the right tools and techniques for your hair type.
Long Hair is About Consistency and Gentle Touch
A gentle touch and consistency is the key to proper care for extremely long hair. Extremely long hair is easy and fragile to damage. A long strand of hair has already endured abuse and takes time to grow.
Longer strands of hair are also farther away from the hydrating oils produced by the scalp, causing the ends to become brittle and dry. Thus, one of the most important parts of caring for extremely long hair is learning how to strengthen and hydrate your vulnerable strands.
Massage Shampoo into Hair and Scalp.
Wet your hair with warm water and gently massage shampoo into your hair and scalp. Rinse shampoo with warm water.
Squeeze the Excess Water from Hair
Squeeze the excess water from your hair gently with your hands. Add hydrating conditioner to your hands and work into your hair. Let the conditioner sit on your hair for one minute.
Rinse the Conditioner from Hair
Rinse the conditioner from your long hair with warm water. When the conditioner is rinsed, turn the water to cool and rinse your hair for at least one minute. Squeeze the excess water from your long hair gently with your hands.
Flip Hair Upside Down
Flip your long hair upside down and wrap a clean towel around your head. Twist the hair and towel around slightly to help remove excess water. Gently pat your hair with the dry part of the towel until your hair is damp, not wet.
Allow the Long Hair to Air Dry
Allow your long hair to air dry. Once your hair is completely dry, you can gently brush out the tangles. Start brushing about three inches from the ends of your hair and work out all the tangles.
Move up three inches and gently brush out the tangles. Keep brushing your hair in this manner until you reach the roots. Once your hair is tangle-free, you can style it as needed.
Limit the Use of Chemical Processes
Limit your use of chemical processes such as permanent hair color and relaxers. Improper use of relaxers, which straighten curly hair, can cause breakage. Perms, which curl straight hair, can have the same result. Some hair colors can damage your scalp, which will impede hair growth.
So, take a good care for your long hair naturally.
